November 17, 2022 Farm Report

Two snow-laden pine trees framed by miscellaneous deciduous trees

We all woke up to a Winter Wonderland and the Farm looked like it belongs on the front of a holiday card. What magic snow is! With all of the challenges it presents, its beauty is unmistakable.

In fact, one of our Swedish Flowery Hens sat on snow on top of the coop roof like it’s no big thing. This is the beauty of raising chickens. She’s one of our pets but hasn’t been named yet.

We’re nearly complete relocating our core breeds into the barn for hatching season. Our Black Copper Marans are already producing fertile eggs that we’re listing on eBay for sale

Our new farmhand is great and he has a contagious smile and is great with the chickens. Bridget could be heard singing Christmas Carols as she was asked to lead the carols for the Ellison Bay Tree Lighting Service on Sunday. We love being part of our community here in Door County.
