We’re proud of the international flock of chickens we have here at the hatchery in Door County. These birds would love to live in your area, too. They’re beautiful, docile, and useful to curb the bug population.
Flarry Eye Greys came to the United States in the 1800s from Ireland. That explains the UK spelling of their name (grey instead of gray). They’re one of the most gorgeous game birds and they have beautiful red eyes. We sourced ours from Greenfire Farms.
For their type of chicken, they have a beautiful feather crest – unlike most game fowl. Since they’re game birds, they’re not the best choice for egg production, but they will lay eggs.
Of course, you’ll want to keep these chickens in a pen – especially if you’re growing Prize-Winning Roses. Chickens love to eat flowers.

When searching for a pet chicken, your family should consider this rare chicken breed. They’re medium egg layers which is good for a game bird.
If your city yard can accommodate several Flarry Eye Grey, you’ll have the best-looking pets on the block. Like most gamefowl they are ornamental. They’ve been described as useful since they prefer to forage for themselves. And, it’s best to keep roosters separated from one another. They’re game birds after all.
